Kiawah Island- South Carolina Beach Trip Part 1

Wow...if you haven't been to Kiawah I HIGHLY recommend it. What a gorgeous place. The home our family rented is beyond amazing. Luxury doesn't even begin to explain it. To top it off the owners let us use their exclusive beach club which again is fabulous. We can sit at the pool which is right on the beach relax, get some sun, and eat. Its been a dream the past two days. Such a needed vacation! Right now the kids are both taking very long naps and I'm able to upload pics! We've had a great time lounging, walking on the beach, watching the kids swim for hours on end. We took a sunset stroll to the beach last night and it was beautiful! And today Hunter found a crab in the pool! Enjoy the pics from the first few days of our vacay!

1st time for everything!

So many firsts when you are a wee one! Savannah had her first soccer academy practice last week and she had her first ballet and tap class at City Ballet! The soccer proved what we already knew...she loves the sport and truly has a gift for it. Ballet...well we're still trying to see. She didn't want to go, we practically had to drag her there. You can tell her excitement from the pictures. She did like playing with her friends. However the teacher this week said she had to work on her skipping...LOL really? I hope she didn't get her coordination from me. I'm SO not a dancer and either is her daddy! Notice the little boy dancer in the class?

And I just can't get enough of the sibling love. Easton is pretty obsessed with his big sister. If she comes in the room he'll crane his neck until he can get an eye on her and when he does its smiles ear to ear! Here are some great moments I caught. Love the pics of us enjoying this amazing weather in the front yard. We had our snack on the blanket in the shade. We watched the clouds and tried to use our imaginations to decide was they looked like. So fun! I LOVE the beginning of fall! Little E is getting so big, his giggles are infectious and his smile is a delight. He's getting better with the soy formula and really is a chunky monkey! Love that little boy more than I can say! Oh and he's doing GREAT sleeping upstairs in his crib. The first night was rough for me but after he slept all night soundly I realized this is what he needed. He sleeps consistently from about 8 until 6am everyday. I guess he was ready...sniffle. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

9/11 Remembering

Today is the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The day that forever changed our nation for better and for worse. The tragic events seemed to unify a sometimes divided US. Savannah and Easton you will only learn about this tragic sad day in your history books but your dad and I remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we heard a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center (WTC). I was about to go to class when my phone rang. It was my mom and she told me to turn on the tv. I get goose bumps remembering that chilling call. I woke up my roommates one from Washington DC one from New Jersey, and one from Encinitas by me. The two from the east coast were terrified because the attacks were so near their loved ones. The roomate from DC's mom worked near the Pentagon which we quickly learned was also a target.We watched and cried as watched the events unfolding on the television. Classes were cancelled for 2 days and memorial services began all over campus. We all hugged and cried for days as we learned the details of this awful plot that killed so many innocent people. Our world would never be the same.

Daddy worked 2nd shift so he didnt get off until 11 at night. He woke up in the morning turned on the news to find out that one plane had already hit the first tower. He said he watched in disbelief as the second plane hit the other tower. He said he stayed glued to the television watching in horror as the events unfolded.

As you grow older you'll hear about this day and what it meant to victims families that experienced the true heartache first hand. It will break your heart, sadden you, and maybe even make you angry. Just know your mom and dad feel and felt those same emotions.This is our story and what we were doing on 9/11 ten years ago.

I've thought about all the victims today and how difficult this day must be for those left behind. Such a tragic day. We will never forget.

1st day of School and NYC w/Nana and Lil E!

Savvy started 3K on Monday! She is going 5 days a week this year from 9-12. I figured that Easton could use some one on one time (or some quiet napping time) and she would enjoy the extra time with playmates. She was so excited to start and didn't look back when we dropped her off. She immediately saw her buddy Naomi and they gave each other a huge hug. It was so cute! Her teacher this year is Mrs. Suzanne who you can see in the shot when Savvy is hugging Naomi. She's been at the Preschool for 19 years so she has to be doing something right! I took pics of the kidlets in their matching outfits (I know aren't I sick?) before we took her to school too. Aren't they too stinking cute for words? Those are also Yellow Jacket colors so they are really sporty!

And finally on Tuesday Easton and I flew to NYC. I had to work for the week to set up for market and my amazing mom flew all the way from Cali to watch E while I worked. It worked out ok once we got through the terrential rains (thank you tropical depression whateveryournameis). After many delays we arrived at our great hotel and enjoyed some room service and Bravo TV. Easton immediately melted into my moms arms of course, I just love seeing that. Just 3 years ago we did the same thing with Savannah so it was such a treat to do the same with Easton. Because this was only set up my mom was able to come spend some time with us while we set up the showroom. Thank You mom for coming and for watching our little guy. Watching you two melts my heart. He really loves his Nana! While we were there we were able to see Mary Ann and Mikaela for dinz one night too. Just a great trip all around.

The little things...

 "Enjoy the little things in life for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things"

I love this quote. It's so true. I try to capture these little things as they happen and remember them. Blog about them, snap a picture. So here are a few.

Savannah likes to give me things to take to work. Sometimes its a random plastic piece of fruit, or a book. But last week she drew "me" and she told me it was a "very important note to take to work so i don't work too hard." Ha! Don't you love it? I asked her what the line was in the middle and she told me it was my belly button.  

 Getting to play with the kids...Ohh my sweet girl. I love playing with her. I snapped this pic when we were having a tea party. I brought my pet lamb with me to the tea party. While we had our tea party easton happily played on the floor. He's just about to roll over! Any day now!

 One of my favorite little things is sitting down at the table as a family. Last week we were eating dinner and Savannah was cracking us up as usual. I think she was telling Kevin how I was a better driver than he was (HA!) and then she realized Easton was smiling ear to ear at her so she giggled and gibber gabbered at him. Just then he looked at her and laughed...he laughed the cutest, sweetest belly laugh ever! I was so happy that his first laugh was at his big sister. I totally cried. She truly is the best helper with him. Today I was packing our bags to go to NYC and she was helping me picking out matching socks for every outfit. I had snapped this picture of Kevin sitting at the table right before the laugh. He was like, what are you taking a picture of? It's just one of my favorite things. I want to remember it forever!

AND...Kevin and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday! OOOOOHHHH What an amazing 5 years it has been. He's the best hubby ever and just a fabulous dad. For example today he took Savannah to the store to get dinner while I fed Easton and we ended up taking a nap. He then came home cooked it, cleaned it, AND put her to bed! He's just so great! Words cannot say how much I love this man. For our anniversary he managed to get 14 tickets to the opening Georgia Bulldogs game which happened to be at the dome vs. Boise State. Our friends the Wilheits own a limo bus with a pop up tent and chairs all in Georgia red and black. IT WAS AMAZING! We had a ball! He also got us a room at the Ritz Carlton downtown which was equally amazing. We were on the club level so we had all you can eat food which was delectable and our own private stairs to get up there. It was great! Happy 5th anniversary my love! It's been an amazing 5 years I can't wait to see what the future holds for our family! LOVE YOU!
