Dear Savannah

Dear Savannah,
There was a storm last night and the thunder was really loud. You yelled out to me and I ran upstairs as quick as I could to soothe you. You had the blankets over your head and when you heard me come in you popped up to look at me with your quivering lip and tear filled eyes. I got into bed with you and held you tight and told you it was ok. I got a hundred "dragon breath" kisses before you curled up into me and fell back asleep. I stayed there for over an hour just cuddling with you. The storm had long since passed, but I didn't go. I wanted to relish in this moment with your sweet tiny little body all warm and snuggly next to me. You were clinging to me so tightly. I'll always be there for you sweet girl...through a million thunderstorms and more.

Love,
Mommy

Maternity Pics with my love bug!

My good friend and amazing photog Andy came over to do a shoot of me preggers with Savannah. I wasn't going to do maternity pics again, because I look the same right? Just a different baby in the belly? But as the pregnancy has progressed I've been a bit sentimental about it. Thinking this is probably, most likely, 99% sure this is our last baby. So this will be the last time I'll look like this. And of course little Easton will one day wonder what his momma looked like when she was preggers with him. The dreadful belly shots we do just don't count. Plus adding the element of taking pics with his big sister tempted me even more. So that's how we got here. Of course Andy is amazing and the 20 min he took to take photos turned into a masterpiece. I'm so glad we did them!!

Bugs Bugs Bugs & Preschool Spring Performance!

Savannah's school is awesome if I haven't bragged on it before. Each week of school has a theme and the kids get very involved in what they are learning about. I love how the themes turn into little projects that Savannah and I can work on or just talk about. This week was a week about Bugs! Today she had to bring a bug to school. We started our bug hunting last weekend. I was sure we could find some bugs in the yard to bring in. So we made a cool bug carrier out of her playdoh container and set out to hunt the bugs! After 30 min and not leaving a stone unturned I realized we didn't have that many bugs out yet. This theme seems about a month premature. or maybe we're not good bug hunters? But in a month we'll be swimming in bugs as the weather gets better. But right now we were bug-less (minus ants and spiders both of which were not willingly coming through my front door). So we talked about her favorite bug and we decide crickets were a good choice to bring to school. We had to do some google searching on how you keep crickets alive and we went to the pet store to get our new bug pets! Crickets like to eat sweet potatoes and apples, and they can drink water from a liquid filled sponge. She loved her new bugs and was very excited to bring them to school today!
They traveled well.

Savannah also had her Spring performance this week at school. She had been practicing all her songs for weeks. The recital was hilarious. Listening to 2-3 yr olds try to carry out a tune and sing without music is very interesting. Kevin and I giggled the whole time. They sang 4 songs "Twinkle twinkle", "I have a little turtle", "Bringing home a baby bumble bee", and "Jesus Loves Me". It was a pretty cute performance and our little performer stood in the front row and sang her little heart out.

She wasn't thrilled to be outside to take this photo can you tell?

Jack's Bug Party!

We had a lot of fun today at Jacks Birthday Party! All the kiddos went on a bug hunt, played on the playground, and were able to check out a bunch of bugs with their magnifying glasses. Its a gorgeous day today almost in the 80s so it was great to be outside and enjoy the sunshine! Jack is such a cutie pie, he was so excited to see Savannah. They had a blast today. After all the fun, cake and ice cream Savannah konked out for a good long nap! Enjoy the pics from our gorgeous Saturday!

Home from the Big Apple!

Kevin and I went to NYC this past Saturday for Market week. This was his first trip to the Big Apple and I was really excited to show him the city. Unfortunately an extremely busy work schedule and an extremely fatigued prego momma (me) kept us from seeing much outside of our 5 block radius. Having Kevin there to help me get ready for market though was priceless he was hanging and tagging rugs like a champ in no time! I'm so glad he was able to make it! We were both able to squeeze in time with our friends that live in the city and I was able to do my bi-annual shopping trip for Savannah at H&M. They have the BEST kids clothes at the H&M on 5th ave! Market was fabulous one of the best yet, and I was so glad Kevin was able to experience it all first hand. Kevin left a day ahead of me and I was so jealous he was going to get to see Savannah. This was the first time the both of us had left her for more than a day. Usually one of us is traveling and the other is around to stay with her...we missed her to pieces! Although for the first two days we were gone when we'd call to talk to her she would tell us "she'd talk to us later". She clearly enjoyed staying with her Mimi and Grandad!

The week couldn't end soon enough so I had to take a half day today. The weather was in the 80s and I wasnt going to waste it sitting in my office! I picked up Savannah from school and we decided to have a picnic outside on the back porch because as she said "its a beautiful day!". The sunset was just gorgeous this evening and allowed for me to take some great shots of Savannah playing in the front yard. She's such an easy subject to photograph! We have a busy day tomorrow starting with Dance pictures and then Jack Theuss' birthday party. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

This is Boss' most ferocious picture yet...little do you know...he's a big weenie running away from something that moved in the bushes

Its almost Spring!

Well its been forever since we've posted so forgive the picture overload but I have a LOT to catch up on! Kevin celebrated the big 3-5 last month so the fam went to Barnsley on a FABULOUS spring like weekend. We had lunch at the grille and enjoyed walking around (Savannah peddled her trike) around the grounds. It was a great way to spend a Sunday! For Kevins actual birthday Savannah and I baked him his favorite oreo cheesecake and we celebrated at home by grilling steaks and relaxing. When we sang to him and we clapped and cheered yay at the end (yes the two of us sang to him...) she says "Happy Birthday Daddy! You melt my heart!" Kevin and I of course got all teary eyed. It was the sweetest thing to say at just the perfect moment. His big surprise from me was a day of golf with the boys at Chateau Elan complete with me to chauffeur the crew to and from. The guys had a blast eventhough they did say they played awful and I was able to shop my little heart out at the Mall of Georgia. I think he enjoyed his Birthday week!

This Friday the Paci Pixie came to visit. We'd been reading the book all week to prepare. You can buy the book on Amazon here. It was so great to have a book to read that would reinforce what we were trying to accomplish. We're still reading it now that the baby pacis are gone and with the animals in the forest but she doesn't ask for them anymore! Friday night was a bit rough as she awoke at 3:30 in the morning wanting to know why she couldn't find them in her bed but after some soothing she went back to sleep and was happy to see what the Paci Pixie left her in the morning.

Savannah had two birthday parties to attend on Saturday which made for a pretty busy day. The first was her good friend Lilas at the local jumperoo place called KidzPlay. She had a ball with all her buddies and jumped for 2 hours straight. She has no fear when it comes to the jumperoos, she can sure make her mommy nervous! Then we headed to the local paint your own pottery place for her other friend Adams birthday party. She chose to paint a little bunny which seemed perfect for Easter and then she ate MORE cake and party food. She loves to "help" her friends open their presents, and she keeps asking when her Birthday is. A month doesn't mean much to a 3 year old. She was ZONKED when we were done with them both, as was her prego momma!

While Savannah napped I worked on a birthday present I'd been wanting to make her. Savannah loves to sit beside me in the morning and "do her makeup" with me. I don't like her to put real makeup on her little angel face so I hate when she uses my brushes. SO when I saw this great DIY idea on a mommy blog I follow I knew it was the perfect idea. The idea is to buy dollar store makeup and scoop out the makeup or pop out the tins that hold the makeup. Then you hot glue in pieces of colored felt. I cleaned out two lipstick tubes (my idea) bought new clean brushes, and found her a play flat iron and hair dryer. A little shop in town does embroidery so I had them embroider her name on a make up bag. I'm sooo excited with how it turned out. Now I just have to wait until her birthday to give it to her!

We also decided to start a responsibility/reward chart with little miss this week. Some things have become such a struggle and I hate negative reinforcement and positive reinforcement is how we got her potty trained so easily. I felt like I was finishing every sentence with "if you don't you'll have to take a time-out" and I know this isn't the right way to work with kids. I bought a box and stuffed it with toys and books (all for $1 or less) and we were off. We've been able to make getting dressed, picking up toys, and eating dinner a positive experience. She loves adding "smileys" to her chart and REALLY loves going through the box to pick out her reward. Her first reward she chose a bag of plastic army men....go figure right?
And lastly...Eastons room is pretty much complete! Now we just need the precious boy to come home! I posted about the sign Brooke made last week, but doesn't it look FAB in the room? Its the perfect finishing touch! I also won a sign on a great blog I read Layla Grace Design. Its a custom vintage sign that retails over $150...I was sooo excited. They had a ton to choose from but I the Little Slugger seemed to fit great. So glad to have the little guys room done. We're still waiting on a PBKids Football lamp that's been on backorder for what seems like 3 years. I did receive notice it shipped though so I can't wait to get that on the little red table.

Ok wait one more pic :) so she's been doing good today. However she has replaced the need for the paci with a mass of stuffed animals. To be exact in this picture she's sleeping with 5 stuffed bears, 5 wubbanubs with the paci part broken off, and one ladybug pillow pet. I don't quite know how this is comfortable but she loves it!
