Great Friends!

We had our friends the Willis' to visit this weekend! WHAT FUN! The kids are fun to watch and we were able to start the weekend with nice weather at Barnsley. I forgot my camera but we swam and swam the afternoon away. I can't believe Luke is walking/running around! The last time we saw them I was holding the little nugget! He's precious as can be and so is sweet Brody. Their conversations cracked us up. They were like an old married couple. "do you know where my penny is?" says Brody. "your penny is where you left it last" says Savannah very matter of fact...have you been here...?

Brotherly Love!

 Savvy and Easton took their first bath together this weekend. Savannah kept asking when she was going to be able to do this and she was sooo excited to be in the water to help wash him. Two bath times is a major chore so I was glad to be able to try doing it together. He enjoyed the bath so much more with her in there! He was all smiles and giggles. What a proud moment for a momma!

We tried rice cereal this weekend too. He's not a fan, nor was is sister. He actually gagged and threw it all up so we need to work on it. Savannah never loved rice cereal and I eventually added some fruit and she loved it. I'll give it a week or so and do the same. The boy has such a fussy tummy I'm scared to add anything new! Have I mentioned how much the kid drools? Like 3 outfit changes a day drools! Crazy!

Last weekend Renee invited us over to swim with her and Jack. The amazing hubs did the grocery shopping and we lounged poolside with a picnic! Suchh a fab Sunday!

Cali Trip Part 1

My first trip west with both kiddos was great. Savvy is an expert traveler and Easton was so easy! I started my trip in So Cal where my conference was (Blogher 11') which was amazing by the way. We were able to spend a great deal of time with the family. They loved watching the kids while I worked and the weather was perfect too! Lots of swimming and hanging outside for a few days!

Sometimes you get lucky...

Since I print these for my kidlets I like to include a little life lesson every once in awhile. So here we go with my words of wisdom...

Savvy and Easton,

Sometimes you get lucky and you meet that friend when you're young that really "clicks" with you immediately. You call them your "best friend" then but you don't really understand what that means...
Sometimes you have things in common, and you teach one another about the things you don't.
Sometimes you like to do the same things, and most times you like different things but that's how you learn about new things in the world.
Sometimes you come from the same background and lives, but most times you come from different worlds but this is how you learn about the differences in people's lives.
Sometimes if you're lucky this friend stays your friend through college and beyond, and you continue to love this person no matter where life takes you both.
Sometimes you need one another, a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, an ear to listen, a smile that is needed to get through the day.

We met at Cross Country practice in seventh grade. She said I was the most annoying person there, and looking back I don't disagree. We struck up a friendship that day and have been true best friends ever since. Like sisters. I'd do anything for her, and I know her for me. I remember we didn't want to tell one another where we were going to college with fear that we'd influence one another's choice. We had a day at school our senior year where to announce where we were going we'd wear the college shirt/sweatshirt of our chosen school. I remember breathing the biggest sigh of relief and screeching when Moni walked up in her U of A sweatshirt. It was fate again....

The best thing about a best friend is that sometimes we can have a whole conversation with only a few words. We have been one anothers college confidantes, running partners, advice giver, maid/matrons of honor, "aunts" to one anothers children...it goes on and on. I can't remember who gave the other the card about "being little old ladies together" but really it's irrelevant. We will be, laughing, crying, telling the stories of our lives to one another when we're little old ladies because that's the way its supposed to be.

I wish for you both that you find this friend like I have. If you find a friend like this...nourish that friendship. Protect it. Never let anything come between you and that person. All the effort and love you give it will be worth it.

I truly hope that sometime in your life you meet that someone. The special friend that will be there with you through thick and thin, good and bad, laughter and tears. I did. You know her well...and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. Here are some funny pictures of our journey through friendship.

Goooo Mighty Jackets...Go Go!

Tonight was the football scrimmage of Calhoun vs. Rome. This game was extra special because Savannah was cheering at half time with the other girls who were in her Cheer camp. I love the photo of Savannah and her buddy Libby. I can't believe how big they looked! She was all about her cheers before we left the house. Savannah loves the football games she runs around with all the kids and has a ball. She played her heart out for the first two halfs...So by halftime she was ready to go to bed. She wasn't in the performing mood but she looked cute out there!
