Hokey Pokey Elmo and more videos!

Who would have known that Hokey Pokey Elmo would make Savannah so happy! She bobs and dances to the music now...check out the video!

Savannahs very first "mum mum" cracker. They dissolve in her mouth, but she still managed to get a piece in her throat so when she coughs you see it go flying out. Very long video...more entertaining for the grandparents that anything.

She's getting pretty good at the sippy cup!

Enjoy!

A few of my favorite things...and mistakes you should learn from

Being a first time momma has a total learning curve. You try to read everything you can, ask advice from veteran mommas, your momma, your hubbys momma, all the worlds mommas. But you still make mistakes (which will be laughable later), and sometimes you stumble on your own diamond in the rough kind of things. So I've been compiling a mental list of some good ideas and those that aren't so good. Hope this helps out my fellow momma's..

Check em' out.

Not so great ideas.
1. Prunes work very well. In fact you only need about a teaspoon for them to be effective. Serving an entire jar can lead to 6 outfit changes, one sad baby, and one very sad mommy.
2. Teaching your baby the sign language sign for "mik" (picture milking a cow here) then simultaneously teaching them to wave "bye-bye" the same way. Makes for a very confused mom and baby.
3. Wearing anything but a gigantic trash bag when your feeding the baby, and not checking your hair for remnants after. They'll inevitably blow raspberries with a mouthful of food, and you'll have pea puree in your hair at work. Nice.

Great ideas and toys! In no particular order...
1. Hokey Pokey Elmo! Who knew this cute little guy could make Savannah so happy? (thanks Kelly and Mitch!)
2. Individual travel sized hand sanitizing wipes. They work amazing for dropped paci's, creepy restaurant high chairs, sanitizing toys, you name it!
3. Wannabe Robeez. These shoes are AMAZING and sell for a 1/4 of the price at this site on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/Shoes-Zoo They never fall off, they are stylish, and keep those tootsies warm!
4. Angelcare Monitor- This thing is great. http://www.angelcare-monitor.com/ Get the deluxe model you wont regret it.
5. Flip video recorder- How I record my movies with ease. It takes 5-10 min to download a movie and the software uploads it automatically to you tube! Best invention everrr. http://www.theflip.com/
6. Ergo baby carrier. Love this thing. I'm a baby wearing momma...fo sho. http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/
7. Rock-a-bye Baby- Say goodbye to traditional boring lullabies and Hello to Led Zeppelin lullaby style. (Thanks Brooke and Adam for showing us this!)http://www.rockabyebabymusic.com/web/page.asp
8. Britax Marathon car seat. If you don't know about them...look them up. Rated safest carseat year after year. And they are cute as a button too!http://www.britaxusa.com/products/product_detail.aspx?ID=5
9. Long sleeved white onesies, and white tights. Savannah didn't get to where some of her tanks, t's, and dresses before it turned cold. So I layer a long sleeved onesie underneath and "waalaa" we get to wear those clothes!
10. Babylegs- So easy when you need to change a diaper but want to keep those chubber wubber legs warm! http://www.babylegs.net/ P.s. they sell some of the more basic patterns at Target now! woohoo! P.s.s the dad wearing the "arm warmers" in rainbow on the home page is super lame. Who does that?
11. Lavender baby shampoo by Johnsons...smells so good I use it.

That's all I can think of for now...Hope these are helpful!

Jen

Happy Fall!

What PERRRRRFECT Fall day we had! If you can't tell this is my favorite time of year! Days like this make me so thankful for our lives and our perfect little family (tear...im so sappy). We woke up early and Savvy and I got lots of time to play before the Harvest Fesitval downtown. We walked around the festival and then it was time to show everyone the cutest lobster in Calhoun (and in the whole wide world)! She took 3rd out of about 10 kids! We think she should have gotten 1st but we were happy with her gigantic trophy! The thing is bigger than she is! She of course wanted to eat it, so we let her enjoy it for awhile. Everyone kept stopping us to say what a cute little lobster she was...tee hee....it was lots of fun.
Savannah is checking out the baby butterfly

some of the competition

We got 3rd! Check out my first trophy!

Then we took a trip out to the Pumpkin Patch Farm! What cool place! They have animals, a hay ride, a maze, games, food, tons of fun stuff! She was little too young to enjoy most of it (and it was wayyy past her nap time) so we took some pics with the pumpkins and picked one out to carve! Next year we'll go back and take advantage of all the stuff they had to do! You can see from the pics she's a tiny bit tired. We really wore her out today!

Coolest place ever! Playing airplane with dad

Why am I sitting here with these big pumpkins?

Happy Halloween!

I'm sooo sleepy! Too much fun for one day!

Now we're getting ready to cheer on the Dawgs as they take on LSU....GOoooooooOOoooo DAWGS!

Watching her handy daddy install the new screen!
He's very proud!
Legs up!

We shot this video last night of Savannah. She gets these hyper spells where she gets all giddy and goofy. We happened to catch this one on film. Beware of the high pitched screams, you might want to turn down your volume. Her newest thing is to buck in her bebepod. She looks so silly!

Da-Da-Da-Da

Savannahs new favorite word is "Dada" in fact all she seems to say these days is "Dada". For the record she has said "Mama" she just doesn't know what she's doing when she says it! Oh well, all my hard work to try to get her to say "Mama" first didn't pay off...but this is still cute as heck. Check it out. I know its a tad long but the whole thing is so funny. We were finishing dinner on to the "dessert" portion which I had just taken out of the fridge. She's NOT a fan of cold things, can you tell? I love her grabbing off her bib, although in the coming weeks I'm sure it will be less fun at meal time. Still catching the first time on film is hilarious. If your short on time skip to about 2 min 30 sec where she really gets silly. I was telling her to wave goodbye and she did it with the bib in her hand! Silly silly girl! Oh ya and the CONSTANT tapping is her foot on the counter, its like she's keeping the beat to music I can't hear!

Love to all!
Happy Wednesday,

Eating and Waving Bye Bye!

Here are some new videos of Savannah.

This first one is of her eating a piece of Banana through her mesh feeder. Can you tell she's not a fan? She loves bananas normally but I think the texture of the mesh on her tongue gives her the willies. Watch closely because its a super quick video. She shudders, and gags when i touch it to her lips. You can see Marley's snout come into view, she wanted to see what she was eating...

This is a video of Savannah eating dinner last night. She loves the summer veggie blend! On nights where she gets baths I let her get a little more messy than usual. She's very into the lights over the bar! And so you know "booogaleee-wooogaleee" is her favorite word, she cracks up. Sorry for sounding so lame!! Ha!
I love this video because she waves at the end. We've been working on "bye bye" for awhile and she's just starting to wave back. Soo cute!

Savannahs 6 Months Photo Shoot

Savannah had her photos done on Saturday by Sara as many of you know. Each time I think they can't possibly get ANY better but each time they do!!! We started the morning at the sunflower fields, which are in full bloom. Savannah was all smiles and giggles the entire time. She couldn't take her eyes of the flowers. Then we went back home and took some fun fall pics in the yard and on the porch. She wanted to eat all the fall leaves so that kept her pretty happy while Sara snapped away. Then we went inside and took some pics in the basket Sara brought. Between that and her knit hat, these pics are my fave!! After that we did another outfit change into her onesie and tutu, she didn't hesitate showing us her "ballerina fingers". She's destined to be a little dancer. After that Savannah needed a break and a bottle which Sara caught on film. Sometimes even the simplest moments are the most precious in black and white. Lastly we took pics of Savannah in her blue smocked dress that her Daddy bought the day we found out she was a she! Good thing we did too, she's growing like a weed and won't fit in it much longer. Speaking of growing...Kevin picked out the song, its by Darius Rucker (Remember Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish?) Well he went country and this song made Kevin think of us when he was on his last business trip. He came home and told me about it. We decided it was perfect for this collage of pics. We can't believe our little baby is 6 months old. Thats why the song "it wont be like this for long" was very appropriate. Can I hit the "pause" button again?

Here is the link to the slideshow and I'll post a permanent link to the right under slideshows.

No they di'nt

This has nothing to do with Savannah but I'm sooo excited!

YAY! A new season of the "real houswives". And its in our very own backyard-Atlanta! This is quite possibly the best show on TV and when I saw the preview I could tell this is going to be the best one yet! It's on Bravo if you live in a cave and don't know about this show.

And fun news about Savannah. We had to lower her crib this weekend. She was being very creative and gymanst like this past week. When she's on her belly she can pull herself up onto the sides. I was certain she was going to catapult herself out of her crib. I feel much better now that she's closer to the ground.

Ok back to work!

Savvy is 6 months!

Well tonight I had a major bonding/wow moment with Savannah. I was in her room in the rocker feeding her, her nightly bottle when she raises her hand and kind of turns it side to side (imagine the Mrs. America wave here). She watches it intently watching her hand go back and forth. She's been doing this for quite some time now (learning her hand movements). She's very interested in her hands. So as we sat there I watched the wheels turn in her head as she moved her hand. I took my own hand and held it in front of hers and opened and closed my hand she watched me move it took her own hand and slowly did the same. I could literally see her learning right then and there. She was interested in what I was doing and wanted to do it too. It was so amazing. Ok that was my sappy mommy moment.

On Wednesday we went to the dr. for her 6 month "well baby" check-up. She weighs 16.2 lbs and is 26 inches long! 50-75th percentile for both! Doc said she is perfect and was meeting all the developmental milestones for her age group. We knew she was perfect but its great to hear it from the dr.

We have her 6 month pics with Sara on Saturday morning! Im so excited! She's changed so much since the last ones. Can't wait to post the new pics and slideshow!

Have a great weekend!
