Big Girl Bed!

Ok so Savannah might have been the oldest kid in a crib! She NEVER ever tried to climb out and I'm not going to lie I loved putting her in there and not having to worry about her getting in to anything or trying to come downstairs. Well Savannah is a very big girl, In 3T clothes and she pretty much  was banging around in her crib. She was a wee bit too big for it. SO today we went and bought her a nice full size mattress, some extra bedding we needed, and the trusty bed rails to make sure we didn't hear a big thump in the night as she fell off her bed. After a complete redecorating fiasco in her room (it was TOUGH to make all the furniture fit just right) we had it all set up. We read some extra books tonight to get her settled, and I did some extra back tickles, when it was time for me to go I could tell she was a little apprehensive. After all she's only ever been in a crib! But after some more kisses and hugs she was good to go. I watched her on the monitor and she stayed put in her bed until she fell fast asleep! Fluke? Yep totally! She didn't have a nap today and we were super busy, so her being extra sleepy really helped us! But I'll always be able to say she slept great on her first night in her big girl bed!!

August in Augusta!

We spent the weekend with our friends the Willis'! We drove down after work on Friday...Kevin decided we should take the "shortest" route on the Nav system...well it turned out that was ANYTHING but the shortest. With the help of Friday afternoon traffic, a terrential downpour that washed out part of the road and just a crappy route in general we spent 3 hours of barely moving we decided it was time to get off the "highlighted route" (you get this if you have nav) and jumped on the normal highway we usually take...So our typical 3 hour drive took us...um 5 hrs and 20 min! AHHH! We did get there though and sat down to enjoy our weekend. They recently moved into a new home in the coolest neighborhood! Their house is GORGEOUS as you can see in the pics and so kid friendly! Savannah and Brody made the hallway a race track, and the playroom was super fun! First thing Saturday morning we headed to their pool which is just down the road. There are pics of the kiddos in the wagon with their pool toys. Aren't they cute! They played and played...after several hours of water fun we headed home for lunch and a bath. I just love watching Savannah and Brody interact. Every time we get together they play more and more. We quickly noticed Savannah was sleeping standing up playing Brodys guitar so we put the kids down for a much needed siesta. The guys went and played 9 holes at Riverwatch and Brooke and I caught up on the best show ever...Real Housewives! The D.C. one had enough drama in the first two episodes to keep us very entertained! Then we headed out to Kid to Kid a second hand store for kids that is awesome! Super organized and their stuff is great.  Brooke and I both made out with a few bags of goodies! Once they finally woke up from their naps we went outside to play in the water some more! I included a picture of Savannah (great name eh'?) their dog, she will fetch for hours on end...she's such a love. Finally after we fed the kids and put them to bed we headed out for a fun night on the town. Don't worry Adam's sister and her husband stayed at the house. We went to a great restaurant called Bees Knees that had great Tapas and an interesting array of corner working clientèle (i.e. Pretty Woman). I plan to read this to Savannah one day...hence the vagueness of my comment.We laughed and talked through dinner and enjoyed the scenery! It was a great night! This morning we ate at the famous Cracker Barrel and then headed home. We had a very busy weekend with great friends! Enjoy the pics of the kidlums and all our adventures! 

I just realized I don't have any pictures of Luke, Brody's younger brother! He's a doll, grown so much since I last saw him at McClane's bday. He smiles nonstop and is such a good baby. I don't think I heard him cry once! Savannah loved sharing ALL the toys with him, in fact we had to restrain her from burying him in puzzle pieces. :)

This last pic is of Savvy helping me wash the dogs last weekend. You can see the fear in all their eyes as they try to blend into the background. She was a great helper as always! We got those puppers clean!

Dancing Queen!

Well Savannah had her second dance class this evening. I had my doubts after the first class where she just stood there as more of a spectator than a dancer. Today however was better! She did all the tumbling, waited in line, and actually followed part of the pom pom routine! I had to laugh out loud though...so I'm watching through the two way glass sharing my 2 inches since all the moms, grandparents, dads, and annoying as heck siblings (I know I still don't like kids even though I have my own) There was a particular rug rat who sucked on her lollipop like it was going to disappear at any moment. After several evil eye looks her mom must have gotten the picture (or fear that I was going to check her kid across the room) and removed her from the window. Anyway so I'm watching my angel dance in the room and she starts to pet...yes pet this other little girl. Savannah has the girl pinned against the wall as she's stroking her neck and chest. I'm stiffling giggles because well why other moms might find this creepy I know WHY she's doing it. HELLO! My kids ONLY exposure to other kids are her brother and sister furbabies! She pets them! She only knows how to interact with freaking DOGS! OMG...I'm sure the other mom thought Savannah was molesting her daughter...but I for one got my laugh for the day. I realized the other girl was starting to cry, the teacher caught on and from what I could tell told Savannah to keep her hands to herself. Savannah did as she was told, but man was that funny! I guess we need to work on appropriate touching to others...as in petting, patting heads, scratching ears, and sniffing butts (KIDDING!) is only appropriate to those on 4 legs. *sigh* I'm doubtful they have books on this. So really she was great, I'm not going to say my kid was the best behaved there...OK I will. SHE WAS! Minus the freaking out the girl by petting incident she was great! There were other hellions who tore around the room screaming, jumping on the mat when it wasn't their turn, with their hands in their pants (ICK) eating their own boogers (double ick), and overall a total lack of any authority. So I was proud of my little bean! She looked adorable in her new leotards (THANKS MANDA!!!) and she behaved in a way that would make her momma beam with pride!! Lake Living!

Uncle Tom and Aunt Michelle took us all out on their boat today! WOW did Savannah love it! The weather was H-O-T like 100 degrees today, probably 90% humidity and the lake water was super warm! Savannah hoped right on the boat (in her new Lightining McQueen lifejacket) and was ready to hit the water! We found a good cove and we all dove in for some refreshing lake wading. She loved it! She's never been in a lifejacket before so I was wondering how she'd like the automatic flotation. She still did the whole float on the back thing which was cute and was loving that she could spin in circles so easily! After about 10 min in the water I kept feeling this brushing on my legs which I attributed to the straps that were hanging off my lifejacket. THEN Shannon says "man those fish are nibbling"...I think I walked on water like a holy person back to the boat and let me say my toe didnt dip in the rest of the day. Apparently CERTAIN coves (i.e. the one we were in have nibbling little brim type fish AKA PARANAS!) Ok so I know I was exaggerating but I don't like fish nibbling on me, teeth or no teeth. It didn't bother Savannah and she stayed in the water for over 4 hrs! She rode on the tube with daddy, taunting "Go Faster Shell (Michelle)!!!" and wanted to bounce over all the wakes. I loved watching her hair blow in the wind! She was a trooper! After her swim she said "mommy I'm sleepy I need to go night night" right there on the boat...lol. She was so tired she passed out before we hit the main road. What a great day with the fam! I took a pic of how tired she was after her bath tonight, I'm pretty sure she could have fallen asleep right then. Much Love!
