Savannahs 3 Month Photo Shoot!

Life is good. Sara came over for Savannahs 3 month photos, and they are sooo precious! The weather was fabulous and we were able to recreate some photos we'd taken during our maternity shoot but this time with Little Savannah. Savannah did soo great (with a mini nap in between wardrobe changes)! Kevin had her smiling her big gummy, lights up her eyes smiles! While I just watched in awe, she's grown so much in these past 3 months I can hardly believe it. Enjoy the slideshow and these pics below are from Sara's blog www.saradharperblog.com . Slideshow link is at the bottom of this post. It gives me goose bumps. You will have to copy the url into your web browser.

Savannah is 3 Months Old!!

Rocco and Savannah at Luca's 2nd Birthday Party!
The Palmer Fam
Daddy thought it would be cute to take a picture of Savannah laying on the bed naked...Savannnah thought it would be funny to pee on Mommys side of the bed instead.
This is SOOO her color!
Love my wubbanub!
Daddy loves me!
Gooooo Georgia BULL DAWGS!
This is a video of Savannah on Saturday waking up from her morning nap.

She's going to be a soccer player!

My little baby is 3 Months old! I can hardly believe it! She's such an amazing little baby, surprising me every day with her new skills. She's rolling from back to side frequently, I imagine its not long till she flips to her belly. She blabs all day now, making the cutest little vowel sounds. I love her girly voice, it gives me shivers from the inside. We've been taking long walks and jogs and many dips in the pool. This baby has busy days!

And on Saturday night we put her down at her usual bedtime 9:30 and she slept until the next morning at 9:30!!! I couldn't ask for her to be any better!!! Sometimes I ask god why we got so lucky?? Can you tell I'm sappy about the fact that my baby girl is 1/4 year old? You know I always wondered why people with babies talk in weeks...like come on do the math for me...is she 12 weeks or 3 months? But now I know. Each little milestone, a tiny smile, her gaze following you across the room, gripping a toy, kicking her feet, finding her hands, rolling over...all these tiny moments are measured each week. You couldnt possibly group them into months. It just makes sense now that I'm living it. So my little love is 12 weeks...so big already! I love her more than I could possibly explain, my quarter year old little bean. Who not too long ago was the size a shrimp (remember the pregnancy emails?).

Until next week...

Powdered Poison? and the Labor of Love...

Ok...most of you don't want to read my vent...just a quick disclaimer, if the word "breast" bothers you...STOP HERE!

OK...
Seriously, the marketing people at La Leche League of brainwashers need to pat themselves on the back! From the minute you get prego everything and everyone tells you to breastfeed. "Breast is Best!" and "It's better for the baby, she'll be smarter, healthier, less allergic, more attached to their mother, plus you'll establish a deeper bond with your baby...yada yada. SO how do you say NO to that? Can a can of powder bring all these things too? NO "they" say (who is they, I don't know but "they" got me!)...let me also mention that the minute you get prego SOMEHOW the formula companies get your address. I swear your OB sells your info and gets kick backs. No wonder mine drives a brand spankin' new Jag....as if the 450K he gets for delivering babies wasn't enough...ok I got sidetracked. Anywho, the formula companies start sending you literature and boat loads of samples. And when I say samples I mean full size cans...like weekly. The literature is funny too it will say, "breastfeeding is best"...and in the same sentence it says BUT when you do introduce formula here's a full can and how to do it. And while were at it here is a few coupons to entice you even more. Why don't they say "when you finally crack and can't deal with the pain, no time alone, and overall crazy hormones here is a can that will sit pretty in your cabinet that will call your name daily, you don't even have to go to the store! Just add water!" What smart marketing people! What mom doesnt think, "I can't do this anymore!" at least once during their 'breastfeeding crusade' and when I say crusade I mean it. If you've done it you know what I mean. It's the true labor of love...
It was tough before I went back to work, but now that I'm back I have a whole new bundle of hurdles and obstacles to keep her nursing. Its SO tough...but it can't be the hardest thing I've ever done. So I keep doing it, because I love her, because I'd do anything for her. Because she is my daughter and I want her to be smarter, healthier, and less allergic to whatever she might be allergic too. I drank the koolaid folks I'm two steps away from wearing birkenstocks, eating granola, turning my hair into dreads, and wearing my baby in a tie dyed sling and wipping my boob out in public screaming "we can breastfeed wherever we want!" Ok just kidding.

See it was just a vent, nothing profound...but I feel better now. Thanks for listening!

For Your Viewing Pleasure...

Hello!
We've been shooting a lot of video lately of our little bean Savannah. She's sooo smiley and happy!
Wakey Wakey...this is a video I shot of Savannah in the morning. She is a total morning person. I used to despise the morning but how can you be grumpy when you have this smiling sausage next to you? Hope this one makes you smile!

This is a video of Savannahs second time in the pool with mom.

Savannah in the Pool with Daddy

Getting ready for her bath! I usually lay Savannah in her crib while I get things ready for her bath. She was very excited this particular night. I apologize in advance for my annoying "mommy banter". The words belly and feet just aren't as cute as belly wellys and feeter meeters! Yes I talk like this all the time, and yes I talk the same way to my dogs.

A typical walk at the park...she sleeps...i walk.

Kevin shot this video, we had just gotten home and he put Savannah in our bedroom in her car seat while I put the dogs to bed. Whenever you leave the room or her line of sight and "reappear" she gets very excited. So this is Kevin "reappearing"...you can also hear her little "coo" in the video. She wants to talk really bad. Her little voice is so cute and girly!

Savannahs Birth Announcement in the Calhoun Times

I finally got Savannahs birth announcement in the paper! Here it is. They actually put it next to a picture of Jimmy which we thought was really cute!

Summa Time!

For my NY Peeps

What a fun few weeks. Going back to work has been an adjustment but I go home at lunch to see Savannah and I rush home after work. We're lucky we live so close!
Savannah had her 2 month check up last Friday. She weighs 10.8lbs and is 23inches long! She's in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for length. She has a long torso like me, which I hate to tell her is bad for finding shirts. They're never long enough! And she has long legs like her dad. The Dr. said she sees 4 month old babies that are 23 inches long! She only cried for a second when she had her shot, then I picked her up and gave her kisses to make her feel better. That night though we could tell she didn't feel good, poor girl. She just couldnt get comfortable.
As you can see from the pics we took Savannah swimming last weekend at Kevins parents pool. It was almost 95 degrees so the cool pool felt amazing. She really like it! I was so excited! We took her in again in the evening too, and she didn't cry for a second. I just loved seeing her enjoy it.
We'll write again soon! Its hard to find time now that I'm back to work full time. When I get home all I want to do is play with Savannah, but we'll still keep you updated on our lives!
Lots of Love!
Jen

Ahhh life on the porch....

Ammmmerrrrica the Beautiful! It's the Happy Memorial Day Baby! PRESH!
Nana and her grand baby

Well, we had great visits with the fam! Dad and Michelle had a blast with little Savvy. They couldn't believe how big she'd gotten *ok there was my cliche statement for this post*, but seriously the grandparents fawned over her. Lavishing her with kisses, and new apparel. I think it was fun for them now that she looks at faces and acknowledges people. I mean newborns are fun but they are little sacks of potatoes..eat...sleep....poop...eat...sleep...poop...you get the picture. Not that she's writing screenplays now or anything but eye contact and gummy smiles are a major step up!

Ed bought Savannah a Memorial Day themed dress (see pics) she was very patriotic for a her first trip out of STATE!! Duh duh Daaaa! She went to Tennessee Folks! Very exciting...she did sleep through it but we told her about it when she woke up. We even bought the dogs little visors...only they would appreciate this. We had a blast and Ed fell in love with her of course.

Next we had Dad and Michelle and again we had a great time. We gave Savannah baths put in her Billy Bob teeth paci, hung out on the porch, shopped, cooked...did you see the Billy Bob teeth! Ha ha ha! So funny! Who thinks of that stuff?

It was so great to see my parents with Savannah, nothing is sweeter than seeing your parents love your baby.

I went back to work today...wow. So I think I cried like 100 times this weekend in anticipation of how terrible it would be. But this morning with the help of my amazing caring husband I made it to work without too many tears. Everytime he'd look at me though to make sure I was ok I'd burst into tears. He was so worried about me...he texted me, called me, sent me emails, I think he was sure I was going to lose it. BUT with his comforting words, hugs, love, and not to mention a great babysitter I made it. Darlene was so nice and comforting when I called every hour just to "check up"...I wont always be that annoying promise. Savannah was happy as a clam with her Grandma and Mommy was ok too. I think I was also calmer because I heard a song on the radio that really made me calm down on my way to work..."stronger woman" by Jewel...ok I know lame but hear me out. The song is about her wanting to be a stronger woman, HENCE the name of the song and she says "I want to be the kind of woman I want my daughter to be" A light bulb flashed above my head and I realized I want Savannah to climb the corporate ladder and take over the world...be the president...be a part of the "boys club"....shatter those glass ceilings. And what better way to teach her than do it myself. I'm back to work and plan to take over Mohawk in a few years...buy your stock now folks...I don't want to go to jail for giving insider stock tips so I'll only say it once.
Hope you enjoy our pictures of the week!
Love,
The Palmers
