Well its been forever since we've posted so forgive the picture overload but I have a LOT to catch up on! Kevin celebrated the big 3-5 last month so the fam went to Barnsley on a FABULOUS spring like weekend. We had lunch at the grille and enjoyed walking around (Savannah peddled her trike) around the grounds. It was a great way to spend a Sunday! For Kevins actual birthday Savannah and I baked him his favorite oreo cheesecake and we celebrated at home by grilling steaks and relaxing. When we sang to him and we clapped and cheered yay at the end (yes the two of us sang to him...) she says "Happy Birthday Daddy! You melt my heart!" Kevin and I of course got all teary eyed. It was the sweetest thing to say at just the perfect moment. His big surprise from me was a day of golf with the boys at Chateau Elan complete with me to chauffeur the crew to and from. The guys had a blast eventhough they did say they played awful and I was able to shop my little heart out at the Mall of Georgia. I think he enjoyed his Birthday week!
This Friday the Paci Pixie came to visit. We'd been reading the book all week to prepare. You can buy the book on Amazon here. It was so great to have a book to read that would reinforce what we were trying to accomplish. We're still reading it now that the baby pacis are gone and with the animals in the forest but she doesn't ask for them anymore! Friday night was a bit rough as she awoke at 3:30 in the morning wanting to know why she couldn't find them in her bed but after some soothing she went back to sleep and was happy to see what the Paci Pixie left her in the morning.
Savannah had two birthday parties to attend on Saturday which made for a pretty busy day. The first was her good friend Lilas at the local jumperoo place called KidzPlay. She had a ball with all her buddies and jumped for 2 hours straight. She has no fear when it comes to the jumperoos, she can sure make her mommy nervous! Then we headed to the local paint your own pottery place for her other friend Adams birthday party. She chose to paint a little bunny which seemed perfect for Easter and then she ate MORE cake and party food. She loves to "help" her friends open their presents, and she keeps asking when her Birthday is. A month doesn't mean much to a 3 year old. She was ZONKED when we were done with them both, as was her prego momma!
We also decided to start a responsibility/reward chart with little miss this week. Some things have become such a struggle and I hate negative reinforcement and positive reinforcement is how we got her potty trained so easily. I felt like I was finishing every sentence with "if you don't you'll have to take a time-out" and I know this isn't the right way to work with kids. I bought a box and stuffed it with toys and books (all for $1 or less) and we were off. We've been able to make getting dressed, picking up toys, and eating dinner a positive experience. She loves adding "smileys" to her chart and REALLY loves going through the box to pick out her reward. Her first reward she chose a bag of plastic army men....go figure right?
And lastly...Eastons room is pretty much complete! Now we just need the precious boy to come home! I posted about the sign Brooke made last week, but doesn't it look FAB in the room? Its the perfect finishing touch! I also won a sign on a great blog I read Layla Grace Design. Its a custom vintage sign that retails over $150...I was sooo excited. They had a ton to choose from but I the Little Slugger seemed to fit great. So glad to have the little guys room done. We're still waiting on a PBKids Football lamp that's been on backorder for what seems like 3 years. I did receive notice it shipped though so I can't wait to get that on the little red table.
Ok wait one more pic :) so she's been doing good today. However she has replaced the need for the paci with a mass of stuffed animals. To be exact in this picture she's sleeping with 5 stuffed bears, 5 wubbanubs with the paci part broken off, and one ladybug pillow pet. I don't quite know how this is comfortable but she loves it!
