From Guest Room Blahh to Baby Boy Room Awwwww!

Baby Easton's Room is coming along!! We've had a fabulous handyman named Yancy here the past few days. He's been patching the ceiling from the last time our horrible A/C pan overflowed into the ceiling (never to happen again hopefully thanks to a 3rd $300 fix), painting his room the most precious color of baby blue I've ever seen, Behr Satin paint and primer in one color named Skysail Blue if you're curious. We tested many blues (yes it's hard to find the right shade) and found the perfect one! It was a little hard to get a photo of because there is a gigantic armoire that we need to get out of there...Next step is to get the bead board and chair rail up and painted white! EEE! They come back Friday to do that and then guess what??? FURNITURE! It's waiting oh so patiently in the garage to be put together...Double EEEEEE!! While he was here we also had him add a trim piece around our fireplace in the upstairs den. Kevin painted it a yummy shade of milk chocolate which I think really breaks up the room! More pics of that room to come as we transform it into a playroom! Yay! Here is the progress so far!

Does this jersey make my belly look big?

Tonight the Chargers play at home for Monday Night Football. So Savannah and I were 'representin' in our Chargers Jerseys (GO BOLTS!) and decided to take our belly pic. Here we are at 18 weeks! Does this Jersey make my belly look big????

Speaking of Football...little Easton kicks me all the time now! I love feeling him roll around and poke at me. It's very reassuring that the little guy is doing well. The past 3 days have been filled with some random morning sickness which is odd but again reassuring that all is well in the belly! We're thankful its Thanksgiving week and its a short one at work and school! Gobble Gobble!

I heart Shutterfly

I really do!!! Two weeks ago I had a shutterfly party at my house hosted by www.houseparty.com . They send you all the fun party pack stuffed with freebies and you just invite your friends, provide food and cheer and you have a PARTAY! I loved having all my friends over to show them how to make shutterfly books (did you know you can pull pics from facebook??) and how AMAZING their Christmas cards are. I think I've been a loyal Shutterfly customer for ehhhh 6 years? My first albums date back to when Kevin and I had just met *tear* that was 7 years ago! NUTSO! So anyway it was a natural for me to have the party and share why I LOVE Shutterfly! Check out the pics below.

The have a bunch of other great products too! Every year for Christmas for Kevins fam I make a Family calendar with everyones Birthdays in it (something even cooler, Shutterfly saves the dates so if you make them every year the dates are already there! Super time saving perk!) Everyone oo's and ahh's over the pics. I have everyone send me their faves from the year and them I compile them. Family Time!

 Oreos are kind of a big deal in our house. We don't run out because that would be devastating. I only buy double stuff because that's the best kind. So we've introduced Savannah bug to the greatest cookie on earth and last night Kevin sat down and shared with her the art of dunking them in milk. It was one of those commercial moments but since Oreos are such a big part of our daily lives I just had to share. Check out the dunk-a-thon below. I also attached a pic of Savannah reading to Marley. This was Friday morning I was getting ready for work and I heard her "reading" in the kitchen. When I walked in Mars was sitting there listening attentively as Savannah read book after book. Isn't that sweet?

Easton's Nursery!

So I'm jumping on decorating Easton's nursery this go around. If you remember with Savannah her dang dresser was on backorder for months and months only to come in 2 weeks before she was born. I was one stressed momma and I was NOT going to have that this time! So pretty much the second I found out little bean was a boy my hunt was on. Kevin has lots of opinions with this one so it's been a little different in the decor department. He was dead set on a sports nursery even when I tried to sway him to something more neutral. I conceded though I got to decorate Savannahs room exactly how I wanted it so I really wanted him to love Eastons. SO, we agreed the best sports bedding without being too cheesy was the Pottery Barn Kids Junior Varsity nursery set (gotta love the name!) I like the classic feel and the traditional colors.
Next we had to decide on furniture. Take notes here if you're going to be needing baby furniture. JCPenney (I know who would have thought) has the BEST quality furniture and they are in a million colors and styles.  They happen to be great customers at work and I know a lot about their quality procedures and protocols so I knew this was good stuff. We've LOVED Savannahs, especially that we were able to convert it to a full size bed! (note: purchase the conversion rails when you buy the nursery set you'll need them in 2 years and who knows if the set will be discontinued) So naturally we were going to be repeat customers of the ol' JCP. Here is what we chose this time! In chocolate stain, I just love how the bookcase is lit!

Brooke is going to paint us some awesome pictures for the walls that match the bedding, she's so great at stuff like that! This is kinda what it will look like...this is a picture from Etsy.

Now on to painting the room! I just love love love decorating!

Boy oh Boy it's Halloween!

 We had our gender ultrasound this morning and boy oh boy was it exciting! Get it? We're having a baby boy! We couldn't be more excited! We'll call him Easton, which I think is a precious Southern name to go along with Savannah! The first picture below is of his sweet foot, next is the "money" shot...what makes him 100% boy, then some great 4D shots of the gorgeous boy, and two sweet profile photos. I think his features are so perfect. I've said from his first profile shots that he looked like a boy, and well this pregnancy has been a breeze so I've totally had the feeling that this little bean was a boy, and YAY I'm so glad I was right! It was so wonderful to have my mom here to go with us to the ultrasound appointment. Christi and Darlene went too and it was such an emotional moment. When I saw between the legs I said immediately "is that a...is it a boy?" and right away the tech said "YEP!" Everyone cheered really loud, and I started to cry...of course prego momma moment. Kevin got all teary, and it was hugs all around. Savannah the sweet girl she is wanted to get up and lay down with me on the table and hold my hand. I think me crying made her nervous. It was such a happy moment! :)

I've also posted photos of Savannahs preschool Halloween party. The decor was simply precious and the kids just loved it! Savannah was the first to polish off her plate and dig into her cupcake to which she only ate the frosting...go figure. We got a hilarious group shot of the class complete with crying kids, one that wouldn't sit still and a few who didn't want to show their face. I took a photo of Savannahs apple art on the wall. Wouldn't you know Savannahs was the only one with two red apples (2nd from the left). There was supposed to be one red and one yellow, but she didn't seem to like that idea as you can see. After the party we went to Eastside to walk through their haunted house, of course nothing scared Savannah. She loved seeing her witchy Aunt Michelle!

Today was the Fall Festival downtown Calhoun. If you've been following the blog you know we go every year and enter the costume contest. She got 3rd the first year as the lobster, 2nd last year as the curly pig, and.......1st PLACE THIS YEAR AS DOROTHY WITH TOTO! Yahoo! We were so proud! She looked so adorable with Margo as toto the entire crowd ooo'd and ahhh'd over them. It was a shoe in! Thanks to Aunt Christi for french braiding her hair, and for letting Savannah torture Margo. It was a cute contest and we're so proud of our 1st place winners!

Ok so the title isn't pretty. This post isn't pretty. If your poop shy, poop scared, or just don't want to hear details of a potty training little girl. I suggest you scroll to the pictures and then click the "x" of this window so you aren't scarred for life. 

Poop isn't something I normally talk about either. But in this house lately...well its been the topic of conversation for the past week. Almost every convo starts and ends with it. This is what happens folks when you have a potty training toddler! Pooping in the potty was a challenge for us in the beginning. I couldn't figure out how to get her to do it in the potty. After one crazy mess in her pants, I was wishing she was back in diapers. BUT we didn't give up...fast forward to Friday night last week. She wanders into our bedroom in the dark...this is a huge clue she's about to unload in her pants. Kevin follows her in and catches her with her poop face on. If you have a kid you know the face well. So he grabs her and rushes her to the potty. (One other thing I'd note, a toilet or pot is now know as potty when you have a kid...forget normal adult words) Ok so since he's caught her in the act (great quick thinking daddy!) she finally poops in the toilet! This results in some ridiculous dancing, running around the house cheering, giving her oreos at 9pm (remember me saying I promised her the world?), high fives, and all the other crazy stuff you NEVER imagine yourself doing as a couple when you first started dating. We were ELATED! Yay Savannah! Now the trick is...will she do it again? See the pics below of us carving pumpkins? Mid pumpkin scooping she stands up and yells "I have to poop!" golden words at the time since what we're used to hearing is "I pooped in my pants". Savannah and I dash to the bathroom and viola...she performs magic once again. Happy as ever I give her some jelly beans, cheer, smile, yell, I'm just crazy happy at this point that I'm not scooping it out of her pants. Huge breakthrough here! 

How did you do it you say? One word...demonstration. You have no shame as a parent. None. But that's the truth. I won't lie. So Savannah when you are 12 and you're reading this...you'll get totally grossed out, gawk at me, probably say "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!" in that tone that says "I can't believe you"...but it's true little pooper trooper thats what Mommy had to do to get you to do your business in the potty. No lies. Just the shameless truth. And it worked. The end. 

Oh ya and a 13 week belly shot. Savvy wanted to show you her belly too! 

A little note about the pics below. We carved pumpkins on Sunday, Savannah dictated what they were to look like. I think they turned out super cute. She had to hug and kiss them all goodnight as you can see. Daddy really carved them all, all we did was scoop the guts out. I think he realized me and a knife are a bad combo. He's right.
